Local businesses need your help to recover in these uncertain times. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many local businesses have already lost massive amounts of revenue since their enforced closure and as people have had to self-isolate. With potentially weeks, even months of lost income, the concern is that small local businesses, which are so important to the fabric and character of our communities, may not have the cash flow to survive.
Social distancing is obviously the right thing to do, but now that the government are easing restrictions on movement, the worry is that everyone just stays at home. Yes, we will get rid of Covid-19, but some small businesses will be forced to close as well. Already some may never re-open.
Local shops contribute to the social and economic life of our community. They employ local people, buy goods and services from other local suppliers and are essential for rebuilding our local economies.
Now is a good time to buy
Even if you are considering a purchase for later in the year, now may be the opportunity to grab yourself a bargain. Many shops are running special sales promotions in order to get things moving again.
Another factor is the possibility of further waves of infection in the autumn and the imposition of another lockdown.
As business owners, all we can ask is that people take this into consideration when choosing when and where to buy.
Shop locally instead of using large retail stores and making purchases outside the area.
